Sector License

The Sector License grants exclusive rights to Scoville Splice cultivar specifications within a defined market sector. No other company in your vertical gets access to the same cultivar data — giving you a defensible first-mover advantage.

How Sector Exclusivity Works

Each Sector License defines a specific commercial category. Once a sector is licensed, no competing company within that category can obtain a license for the same cultivar specifications. Sectors are defined broadly enough to provide meaningful protection and narrowly enough that the same cultivar data can serve non-competing industries.

For example, a hot sauce manufacturer licensing Heat 07 (Level 4 Pathogen, 8.2M SHU) under a Sector License holds exclusive rights to that cultivar’s specification in the hot sauce category. A snack food company could still license the same cultivar for their own sector, but no other hot sauce company could.

Why Sector Exclusivity Matters

The superhot pepper market is growing rapidly, driven by media attention, competitive eating culture, and consumer demand for extreme heat. When engineered cultivars at 3-13 million SHU become commercially available, the companies that already hold exclusive licensing positions will have a significant head start in product development, supply chain partnerships, and market positioning.

A Sector License is a strategic position. It prevents competitors from accessing the same cultivar specifications and ensures that your products are the only ones in your category featuring Scoville Splice engineered heat profiles.

Pricing

Sector License pricing reflects the commercial value of exclusivity within the licensed category. Pricing varies by sector size, number of cultivars licensed, and exclusivity scope. Contact us through scovillesplice.farm for a licensing consultation.
